In The Beginning…

Sophie is a very special girl. The first time I saw her, it was not something that I could just walk away from. She was wobbling across the backyard at my mom’s house looking like death was immanent. I had to scoop her up and take her to the closest emergency clinic. Even though she was approximately 8 weeks old, she weighed less than 2 pounds. Her eye was injured, she was riddled with parasites, a “trifecta” the vet called it.

Healing

After weeks of antibiotics, eye medications, dewormers and LymDip (yuk), little Sophie was looking and feeling much better. She still has residual effects from her trauma as a teeny tiny girl, but for the most part she is beautiful and living a good life. She does get a little skin irritation on occasion that has something to do with one of the rare parasites that she had. She has also developed some kind of allergy that comes and goes. I haven’t had the funds to get her an allergy test yet because they are quite pricey. I did have to have one done for Fluffy several years ago. I think it was about $500 if I remember correctly. So this little girl does require some extra effort to keep her as healthy as she can be, but she is worth every penny. When she was a baby, I deemed her my “million dollar baby” because of all the vet bills to keep her alive. Little did I know then that a few other’s vet bills would end up surpassing precious Sophie’s expenses.

Life Together

When Sophie came along, GG, Prince and Mya were already established. She wasted no time getting to know them and quickly became one of the gang. Such a playful little girl and so loving.

Donate

If anyone would like to donate to help with Sophie’s ongoing allergy situation so she can breath easy on a regular basis, we would greatly appreciate it. I’ve tried to stay positive about finding some steady work after my job ended a year ago, but it seems like things are just getting worse in the job market these days. I’ve had to beg, borrow and sell off my belongings just to keep the lights on and feed all the kids (kitties.) So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, there is a link below to an Amazon wish list if anyone would like to help with cat food and supplies. The cat food prices haven’t gone up tremendously yet, but the cat litter price keeps going up and it’s getting harder to keep the boxes filled. For more ways to help, go to the Donate page.
